Article: Burn Mike VansEvers At The Stake

"This is my suggestion: harass Mike VansEvers now. Suck his brain dry (advice from Fritz). Call him up and get all of his literature. After you carefully read and re-read his article in the summer issue of PF, try and convince him to send you a draft of his next article."

Article: Home Theater Talk

On first appearances. Mike VansEvers is exactly what someone who tinkers with audio should look like. A frumpled man with long hair In a pony tail, much like the buddys my dad hung out with in the 60's and 70's in college who just lived under a study lamp. Mike's place has stuff everywhere. There are cable and components around like some weird prop backlot room for a movie study kept by a mad scientist. Okay, this is hyperbole, but Mike lent himself instant credibility by being someone with a genuine smile and handshake.

More importantly, before I met him, I was shown to a chair by Mike in front of 2 of the goshdarndest looking Green Mountain Audio speakers

Review: Ruminations on the by:VansEvers Power Conditioners and Power Cords.

After the reverie I started exploring his system but to my surprise found no new DAC or preamp: instead he had line and amp power conditioners, support devices, and power cords--including one with two sliding weights on it--all bearing the by:VansEvers moniker. Like most audio philosophers I've played around with tweaks, and I've found that most do make some difference, but never the kind of positive improvement I heard in my friend's system. I remained suspicious.  Was I being hoodwinked? Were the differences I heard a function of secretly installed dedicated lines, brand new components that, hidden under old (but tres expensive!) faceplates, had finally achieved the "state of the art?"

It was time to don the skeptical barrel and begin the quest for, if not audio nirvana...

Franz Pusch
Article: 3D Sound International Ltd.

My name is Franz Pusch. I am a sound engineer and musician with a long list of credits too long to mention here. In the last few years my focus has shifted to sound sampling and the creation of "Virtual Reality Sound". I am using a variety of computers simultaneously in my home studio. My CD ROM sounds are selling worldwide. Since I started using "Clean Line" by VansEvers, my whole system has become more stable and the second I put it between my beloved toys and the wall I noticed a decrease in ambient noise and I was able to hear my reverbs better. I unplugged it to make sure I was not dreaming. I will never do that again'.

Clean Line is really something.

The fans at my hard drives seem to run in sync now and therefore are much quieter. Overall it added "air" to my system and has made my work more pleasant. I also plugged a CleanLine Jr. between the wall and my power amp. Boy, that really blew my socks off. I thought someone replaced my tweeters.

I don't know what it does or how it does it, I just know I take it to all my sessions. I have a lot invested in my gear and knowing that VansEvers watches over the AC makes me feel much better. Another improvement I noticed with one of my sampling keyboards is the reduction of heat from the power supply. It used to get so hot you could barely touch the chassis. I guess taking the noise off the AC helps the transformer do it's job better. Thanks

Review: Trainwreck Circuits

As for the other VansEvers speaker cables [that have frequency EQ built in], I think that these can also be very useful. For example, if you owned a vintage Marshall 100 watt metalface head and this particular amplifier sounded shrill, wouldn't it be nice to EQ out that shrillness with a "tuned' speaker cable thus allowing you to make full use of your tone stack (Instead of forcing you to turn your treble & presence controls way down)?
